How to Read Online Reviews
Posted by SpecialBuzzr on November 16, 2009
Online user reviews are a popular tool these days. We use them to decide which software to purchase, which restaurants to dine at and which destinations are worth checking out when we travel. However, it’s important to realize that online reviews may not always be accurate. You need to learn how to read them properly to make sure that you’re getting the best information from them.
The most important part of reading online reviews is to check out the source of the reviews. Let’s say that you want to know what the best rated web hosting company is. You can read a variety of different web hosting reviews to get this information. The reviews will differ greatly depending on the source. You want to choose a neutral source with experts who are familiar with web hosting. Computer magazines and top-ranking technology blogs offer quality reviews in this area. A random review by Joe Shmoe on some forum may not be as accurate.
You will also want to make sure that you read online reviews with an eye towards the information that actually matters to you. An online review for a restaurant may be negative but if you read the reason it could be because the service was slow. If you plan on lingering over your dinner with a date then you probably won’t care about slow service as long as the ambience is good and the food is great. Know what you’re looking for in a review and you’ll get more accurate information regardless of the source.
