Who Are You Marketing To?

Posted by SpecialBuzzr on October 22, 2009

Businessman pointingMarketing is a tricky business. People go to school for many years to learn what they need to know to be good at marketing. If you’re trying to market your business on your own without this education then you’re at a disadvantage. However, it can definitely be done.

The most important thing that you need to know when starting out your marketing campaign is who exactly it is that you are trying to market your products to. You don’t just want a general idea. You want to try to imagine who the ideal customer would be for your store so that you can gear your marketing efforts towards that person.

For example, let’s say that you wanted to open a boutique clothing store similar to existing stores like Room Seven and Deux Par Deux. Would you be interested in marketing to the children who wear this clothing? Would you plan to market to the parents of kids of a specific age group? Are you targeting families that earn a certain amount of money?

It may seem tedious to ask yourself all of these questions but it’s worth the time that it takes. By asking yourself as many questions as you can about who your ideal customer is, you’ll know exactly who it is that you’re marketing to. It’s a lot easier to target your marketing process when you know this information and your marketing will be a lot more effective!

Finding an SEO Firm to Market Our Site

Posted by special buzzer on September 11, 2009

Having jumped online in the past couple of months with my first online store, I have been feeling very good with my future on the Internet.  In fact, getting those first few visitors and our first sale was one of the most amazing feelings in the world.  For once it felt like I was doing something right, but one sale wasn’t going to keep enough food on the table to feed our family, so I knew that we needed to do something more to get our site noticed.

A good buddy of mine suggested a Tampa Search Engine Optimization firm that their company had used in the past, so I made a call to them to see what was involved.  They told me on the phone that they were more known as the leading Tampa PPC experts, but that they would give me a consultation and we could discuss where I wanted to go with the site.

That meeting will be next Monday and I am really looking forward to it.  I have been drafting up a set of questions much like a job interview, so that I can make sure that they are a good fit for my needs and the business.  I am sure it will go well, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared, right?
